Their analysis helps in validating the design choices and ensuring that all aspects have been thoroughly considered. The independent assessment provided by UJV Rez adds credibility to the SMR design and instills confidence in stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, investors, and the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HIGHLIGHTS OF THE UJV REZ PRE-FEASIBILITY STUDY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><em>The STAR module assembled in a factory consists of prefabricated elements that are transported to the construction site in a finished form.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><em>The general layout of the reactor system enables its underground placing.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><em>Inherent safety of STAR module is provided mainly by passive safety systems and<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><em>uses proven technology of light-water cooled nuclear steam supply systems.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><em>Provision of the whole nuclear steam supply system as a factory assembled module<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><em>of a standard design expedites and simplifies construction of the plant.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><em>The modular approach assures the required high quality of the nuclear construction.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><em>Refuelling is every 10 years.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><em>The service life of the reactor is planned for 60 years.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><em>The enrichment of the nuclear fuel complies with requirements of IAEA nonproliferation treaty.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><em>The site is without risk resulting from radioactive wastes and spent fuel storage<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><em>during the STAR operation.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Multipurpose use of STAR includes;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><em>STAR-E &#8211; electricity supply 10 MWe<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><em>STAR-T &#8211; heat supply \/ provision of thermal energy (30-40 MWt)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><em>STAR-C &#8211; combined use<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><em>The condition is a high level of passive safety of the STAR module, enabling its<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><em>location in densely populated urban areas.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><em>Dimensions of less than 7.6 m in length, 2.3 m in diameter means that the total transport weight of the STAR module is less than 40 metric tonnes.&nbsp; It can be placed in any remote location by transporting with heavy lift helicopter.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><em>A great advantage {dimensions and weight of STAR module} during construction<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><em>period because the absence of need of construction of nuclear island and additional<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><em>inspection of the construction is much faster and cheaper<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In 2021 Star submitted its concept design of it\u2019s Small Nuclear Reactor (SMR) to UJV Rez, a Czech&nbsp;Republic nuclear conglomerate for an independent analysis of its licensing, safety, manufacturing and economic feasibility in manufacturing the units. &nbsp;UJV Rez provides an independent perspective on SMR designs, offering an unbiased and objective evaluation.
